Triss

CHOOSE YOUR PLATFORM

Triss is my colour-grid puzzle game, rebuilt from the ground up in Swift and SpriteKit for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Shapes drop into the tower and you can’t move or rotate them – instead you destroy each one by drawing it on a grid of coloured squares.

Draw it to destroy it

Find squares of the same colour, trace the same shape as a falling one and let go – it blasts out of the tower. Colours not lined up? Slide whole rows and columns round the grid until they fall into place. Then the shapes start coming faster.

  • Trace a shape in the right colour to destroy it – or two or three at once with a single drawing
  • Slide rows and columns with the arrows round the grid, or press and hold a square and drag
  • Let a shape stick out of the top and the system overloads: you have five seconds to clear it before it shuts down
  • A new level every minute, with more colours, more kinds of shape and less time to think

Chain it up

Every match fills the multiplier bar, pushing your points from x2 all the way to x5. Fill it to the top and pick a power-up to keep for when you need it most:

  • Panic – no new shapes for 15 seconds, and the countdown stops
  • Mix – shuffles every colour on the grid
  • Speed – shapes fall twice as fast, for double points
  • Colour Bomb – destroys every shape in the colour you choose
  • Shape Bomb – destroys every shape of the kind you choose
  • Nuke – clears the whole tower. Very satisfying.

Play your way

  • One game for iPhone, iPad and Mac, with layouts made for every screen
  • Touch, mouse and trackpad – on the Mac, draw with the left button and slide with the right
  • Colour Symbols: an option that puts its own symbol on every colour, for anyone who finds colours hard to tell apart
  • Calm Effects: no screen shake and gentler flashes – also on automatically with Reduce Motion
  • No ads, no in-app purchases and no tracking. Plays offline.

The original edition

Triss began in GameMaker in 2018. That version, for Windows and macOS, is still on itch.io.
